Recently at the Pasadena Flea Market I found… a Quimper plate!

French Quimper Plate

It was the first thing I bought at the show… and can you guess how much I paid for it?

$2! Yep! TWO DOLLARS!  That’s it! Can you believe it?

Based on the markings on the back of the plate, I believe it was made sometime between 1922-1968.  Not too bad! Not antique, but definitely not new!

French Faience plates on the wall

I put the plate above this painting which is with my other Faience plates.  Now that I put it above the painting… I think I may need some more to go above the painting as well? What do you think?

Here’s a picture of what the other plates look like up close:  ( I remember we paid $40 for the set of four)

Hope you enjoyed my little flea market find.

Wow, that is a wonderful deal! I've collected Quimper and other French faience since the 70s. Is your platter marked HenRiot or HB ? It's beautifully painted. What is the mark on your other plates? The reticulated borders are very unusual.
Happy to find your blog. I look forward to more visits.

It is marked Henriot Quimper. The other plates are marked Lallier à Moustiers, which I know is not nearly as old as Quimper but the plate edges are quite cute!

Lovely plates. Your post has made me want to learn more about Quimper. Thank you. As for the grouping, I always go with odd numbers so whatever you decide, think of odd numbers;) My mom owned a gallery and she told me that…for what it's worth.

Thank you for the tip! I am wanting two more place… Which would make for 7 plates total. That also happens to be an odd number!

Great deal for $2! I love your display and yes, I think maybe two more items in the angled space on top on either side – not necessarily plates but something else needed and that would be 7 items around the picture. Odd #s good 🙂
