A Kitchen from the Movie, “The Intern”

I recently watched a movie called “The Intern” starring Anne Hathaway and Robert DeNiro.  The movie is about the relationship between Ben (Robert DeNiro) who is a 70 year old who interns for Jules (Anne Hathaway), the founder of a successful e-commerce website.  The movie navigates through the age-gap.  I thought the movie itself was so-so, but what I really liked was Jules’ kitchen!

I thought this kitchen would appeal to many people… it’s very modern. The open shelving, the subway tile, the white and grey color palette!  Apparently the barstools are from Restoration Hardware.

Then there is the pendant lighting over the island too. Oh, and white countertops… can’t tell if they are marble or quartz, or some other product.

Now the director and writer for this movie, Nancy Myers, has done many of my favorite movies… the new Parent Trap, the Holiday, It’s Complicated, Something’s Gotta Give… so of course the set on this movie was beautiful!

Pictures are Architectural Digest and are not mine.

What do you think of this kitchen?

I thought the kitchen was so open and airy and beautiful (as was the living room)… and I absolutely loved the beach house in Something's Gotta Give! Interesting to know it's the same director who helped create these marvelous sets.

Her whole apartment was cute! Thought the movie was pretty good, kind of sad though which I wasn't expecting!

I'm back again….I didn't know what to expect from the movie but Robert DeNiro and what's her name were great together. 🙂

How could you not love that kitchen?? I've never met a white subway tile that I didn't like.

I loved that movie!! Dreamy kitchen but I couldn't handle the open shelving, to much dusting!

While I love the look of open shelving, I think I would prefer to have cabinets… Agreed, too much dusting!

You were right, I love this kitchen! What a gorgeous mix of new and old. I love the open shelving, but the only thing that makes me hesitate to do it is I'm wondering if it would be too trendy in 5 or 7 years and I'd miss my cabinets.

    Have a great day!

oh, it will probably be too trendy, you're right! But… it is cheaper than putting in cabinets… if you're building from new, that is.

My husband and I watched this together a couple of weeks ago and we both loved it! Their apartment was so gorgeous and that kitchen was fabulous! Thanks for the recap!

Everything about this kitchen is amazing.
    I love the open shelves.
I also love that it doesn't look done.
