I shared my farmhouse kitchen reveal just recently, and now it’s time to share the rest of the kitchen! There is the butlers pantry, coffee bar, and the main walk-in pantry still to be shared!
Below is the bank of cabinets we call the butler’s pantry. We placed a runner on the ground to catch spills – plus I love the color it adds!
It holds the china, serving dishes and warming drawers. As we don’t have a formal china cabinet, this acts as our china cabinet for display as well.
We were initially going to have the bank of cabinets connect all the way to the coffee bar, but decided against it. By not adding the extra cabinets, we were able to get the cute pot rack we had eyed for years! Doesn’t the tea kettle look adorable on it? Now I can enjoy my Staub pumpkin cocotte year round!
Below is the coffee bar. In the cabinets are various teas, coffees, teacups and mugs!
The under cabinet lighting helps lighten the otherwise dark corner of the kitchen. Did I mention we absolutely love our Nespresso machine? I use it several times a day (yes I love making my own lattes and cappuccinos at home!).
Initially I was going to use the icebox latches here on the uppers cabinets. However, we went to install them and… oops! They can’t be used because there is no center divider! So they were moved over to the baking kitchen area. Even though we spent so many hours designing the kitchen, sometimes you forget things!
Just to the left of the coffee bar is the walk-in pantry! Plenty of storage for anything and everything! We had debated about putting cabinets vs shelving. To save on cost, we went with shelving. We actually just used MDF and painted it – a great way to get a large pantry for a fraction of the cost! Below is the before.
And here is the after! The little mini fridge at the end is the drink fridge (that’s been following us around since college dorm days). We did make the shelving large enough for a full size fridge should we ever need it.
We had plenty of plugs installed so that way we could store all of the countertop appliances. We eventually will have a proper countertop made for the appliances but for now the MDF will do.
Also, on the top shelf I have put my shopping bags from various pastry shops like Angelina’s and Laduree!
To fake a countertop, I placed a few pieces of marble that were scraps from the counters in the kitchen. When you are having your marble cut, just ask your fabricator if they can make a few hot plates for you. They are great for actually using as hot plates! You can see one of them in the bottom left of this picture below.
While the pantry is the simplest part of the whole kitchen, I think it is most people’s favorites! One thing you cannot see is that we actually put a motion detector light here as opposed to the regular old light switch. That turned out to be a fantastic idea – the light just turns on and off automatically. It’s great when your hands are full! It’s also great when you forget to turn it off (like I did, nearly every single time I left!)
If you missed it, I wrote about designing the kitchen in this post. The main kitchen reveal is in this post.
