I’m so excited to be participating in a late Summer/Early Fall decorating blog hop! We are sharing how we decorate for the transition between seasons.
A big thank you to Amber at Follow the Yellow Brick Home for arranging these tours. If you are coming from Judith at Botanic Bleu (a fellow Francophile) then welcome! If you’re just joining here, then also welcome!
Today I am sharing a tiered tray in my kitchen. When I think of late Summer, I think of sunflowers. So I used faux sunflowers as a base for a pop of color. Then I started putting other pieces around them.
Apple season will be here before pumpkin season, so these mini faux green apples I thought were perfect for this transitional decor piece! The faux florals were the only thing I bought for this vignette, but I know I’ll use them again and got them for a deal at Michael’s.
Then I walked around my house and shopped my home. Do you do that? I was picking up various things that reminded me of the Fall. I dug through the cabinet and oh, what’s that, a tea cup for Thanksgiving… perfect colors for my tiered tray.
Below, an antique chicken and chick vase figurine and a handmade little snail box.
The Bavarian bear reminds me of Oktoberfest which starts in September. He is actually a little smoker. The vintage transfer ware cow creamer matches all the other china pieces.
Various other trinkets were gathered… a fig scented candle. Mini white vases. Things to “fill it up”.
Here are some decorating elements you can use to transition from Summer to Fall:
- apples
- sunflowers
- twigs or old wood
- dried flowers, such as hydrangeas
- leaves that are more green in color, as it is early Fall
- copper and brass accents
- Fall colored throws
- corn
If you want to go full on Fall, you can start putting little pumpkins in your decor, but if you are still feeling like you’re not done with Summer, I’d say to avoid the pumpkins.

I absolutely adore the Bavarian bear smoker. My son was born in Germany and I adore Oktoberfest!

Thank you! Ironically now that I’ve displayed my cow creamer I have seen two others at antique malls!
That is a perfect vignette for early fall…the sunflowers are just right to me, too!
Author
Thank you! Yes love the sunflowers, I didn’t plant any this year but next year I will – I love watching them grow so big from such a little seed!
Love your Fall Tiered Tray. Beautifully arranged to usher in the changing season.

Thank you very much, Marty!
I adore our tiered tray! So many adorable and unique things to look at in small space. And the sunflowers… wowza!
Author
Thank you! I had never decorated my tiered tray before and it was fun shopping the house for things!
I love your tiered tray for fall! Your little brown and white cow creamer and the pumpkin adorned teacup are perfect nods to the season about to be upon us!
Author
Thank you! I just wandered around the house and “shopped it” looking for little things that would work!
Angelina, I love tiered trays, and you have styled this one perfectly. It has so many pretty details and is just the perfect thing to welcome fall!

Thank you so much! I had never styled a tiered tray before!
Fabulous styled tiered tray! Like you I shop my house, which I have found results in the best vignettes. I always struggle if I go out and try to find something new retail, but mostly using my own treasures usually turns out great. I love your transferware cow and your little chicken and chick vase, so precious! I loved that you used the little green apples and sunflowers, so perfect for August and September too! It has been a delight to watch you transform your home this first year. I simply can’t wait to see what you do once fall fully arrives!
Thanks for joining this tour my friend! Enjoy your beautiful home filled with sunflowers!!!

Amber, thank you for your kind words. IT has been fun decorating the house for the seasons!
Love your tiered tray! You’ve styled it so wonderfully. I have a similar one and it’s one of my favorite things to play with for each season. Right now it’s filled with all green, red, and yellow with a watermelon theme. Come September I will change it up. The bear smoker is so unique and I love your cow creamer!
hugs,
Jann

Jann, thank you very much! I may change mine again in late September, we will see!
You’ve convinced me that I need another tiered tray. Had one for years and let it go when we moved. Now I want another one! Yours is really fun!!
Angelina,
Your fall tray is lovely, and the French candlesticks parfait in your French Country kitchen. I also noticed the woven pattern in your table runner and thought it surely must be French linen. Your faux sunflowers add just the right amount of French Provence countryside to your tiered tray. I always enjoy seeing your house whatever the season.
Happy Fall,
Judith
Love your tiered tray display, Angelina! That brown transferware cow is awesome! Love how you style everything so beautifully! I shop my house too;)
Your tiered tray is so festive and pretty from any view. Love it!
Angelina, the tiered tray is a perfect transition into fall. Sunflowers and apples are the perfect nod to fall.
Your tiered tray is so cute. I have several and need to decorate one of them.
The tiered tray is a perfect transition into fall. The sunflowers were a great addition. The tray is styled beautifully and makes quite a statement!
I love seeing how others decorate their tier trays for the different seasons and yours is perfect for early fall! I’m so glad you mentioned a teacup because I actually have a Royal Doulton teacup from a series and mine is for autumn. I actually started pulling things out yesterday and I hope to have much of it finished before the weekend.
Angelina, I just love your tiered tray! I always struggle with decorating them, but you made it look so easy and the results are stunning! The mix of summer and early fall touches are perfect! So happy to be on the home tours with you!

Thank you so much! I think a key to making them look good is to have some similar elements on every level to blend it all together
Your tiered tray styling is so adorable for fall! So happy to join you on this tour.

Thank you!
Angelina, that’s a great little stairstep of smalls signifying the season to come. And yes, I certainly shop my house (with the added advantage of stored antique mall booth inventory!). I spy a lovely old sheep print on the wall behind the counter on which that tiered tray is sitting – beautiful!
Author
Thank you! Yes you spy a sheep oil painting on the wall! I love it there… we look out on pastures so I carried the theme inside!
I adore the way your have styled your tiered tray for fall! Can’t wait to pull mine out to do something similar! Thanks for the inspiration.
Author
Thank you very much! Yes you should pull it out, I’m already wanting to change mine for Fall!
your tiered tray is fall perfection!!! I love the pops of color you added with the sunflowers and I am all about shopping my home! So fun to tour with you! Kelly @thettatteredpew
