Today I have six things for you to do to get ready for Fall! I know you might be groaning at me for bringing up Fall on another Friday in Summer, but guess what… Fall is starting really soon whether we like it or not. So maybe while you are reading this at the pool, you can start to think about things you can do for the upcoming season.
Create and a Late Summer/Early Fall vignette
One of the easiest things to do is to create a late Summer/early Fall vignette. Take your Summer vignette you have out already, maybe remove a few Summer touches such as seashells, and throw in a few Fall touches – like some mini apples or sunflowers for instance.
Get your Fall projects finished
Make that wreath or garland you wanted to make now so that way you can enjoy it all season long! Below is my DIY Fall wreath inspired by Mackenzie Childs and my DIY felted wool acorns.
Pull out your Fall china and decor from storage
Start taking your Fall decor out of the storage bins and see what you have! If the Fall china is located in the back of the cupboard, bring it up to the front. You are more likely to use if it if you see it. Start rearranging some displays and vignettes with little touches of Fall here and there.
Purge a few things you don’t use!
Have some Summer decor sitting in the closet that you didn’t drag out this year? Maybe it’s time to think about getting rid of it and freeing up some closet space for some more goodies! Or, when you brought your Fall decor out, did you find something that is worse for wear or just isn’t your style any more? Time to purge!
Get a Dough Bowl or a Bread Board!
I love using my dough bowl to decorate for Fall. It’s so easy… just toss in pumpkins and you’re done. You can see in the various pictures in this post that I love to use it. I recommend investing in one. It doesn’t have to be antique. Mine is antique and huge, like frankly, really huge. Like maybe a little too big. But I love it anyway! I used it here and here and here.
I also got a bread board last year and have had fun decorating with it. You can see it here in this post.
Start scrolling through your favorite websites for Fall
I am a planner. The stores start putting out their Fall stuff on their websites starting July 5 (YES I confess, I start looking that day, that’s how I know). The cutest items generally sell out by the first day of Fall. Not always, but generally speaking. So if you see something you need to have, get it now, don’t wait. I have a new round up of throw pillows here and top 12 best scented candles for Fall here.

Thanks!
These are some good ideas! I LOVE fall decorating, but it’s way too hot here to jump straight to fallish things. Thanks for thinking about the transition and sharing your ideas with us.
Thanks so much for joining the Grace at Home party at Imparting Grace. I’m featuring you this week!

Yes, it’s hot here too… but cool in the house so that’s how I justify it 😉 Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend!
