These are my Confessions…

I have a few things to confess. (By the way, I’m humming the tune of Usher’s Confessions Part II, for those of you familiar with the song)

Post may contain affiliate links.

These are my confessions… *looks around and whispers* I already started thinking of Christmas.

And it isn’t even Halloween yet!

You see, when we went to the Grand Tetons last week it was snowing as pictured above.

And it put me right in the mood for Christmas!

Since our new house has 14 foot high ceilings in the family/living room, I naturally needed a bigger tree.  And we have been going with real trees for the past few years.

Except last year our tree made a hot mess. Pine needles everywhere.  When we took it outside at the end of December, it scraped the walls and left permanent marks on them.

So as much as we loved the scent of the real tree, I’m going to be sticking with my faux trees and burning my favorite Frasier fir candles like mad instead.

These are my confessions… I already bought a Christmas tree.  The one below.

It is a 10′ flocked tree.  They have prelit and unlit versions.  Wayfair was having a great sale on trees and so I jumped on it!

They are still having a sale on them.  The unlit ones are cheaper than the prelit ones.  ALL of the unlit ones are under $250.  These are all from Wayfair. UNLIT: 4.5′ tree6.5′ tree7.5′ tree,  8.5′ tree

PRELIT: 4.5′ tree, 6.5′ tree, 7.5′ tree, 8.5′ tree.

Or if you are an Amazon fan, you can get the tree here too.  Amazon is generally the cheapest place for this tree, but like I said, Wayfair has a good sale that I think is ending on the 15th, but sometimes they extend their sales.

These are my confessions…  We were at Lowe’s looking for something for the new house, and we got distracted because they came out with Christmas decor.  And we didn’t grumble about how they already had it out… we fully embraced it and went-a-shoppin’.

I have a little portico on the house which I think I’ll turn into a gingerbread house for my Christmas lights. How cute are these little candy lights?

Also liked these lights, they are finally coming down in price!

These are my confessions…  Ok didn’t just look at lights. We bought a Christmas moose!  After seeing the moose family at the Grand Tetons, I knew that we had an exterior lighting theme for our house…. *drumroll please*… Christmas Animals!

These are my confessions… Then knowing that stores were putting out Christmas, we started going to all the places we thought that would have Christmas.

I just loved how this light was decorated with greenery!

These are my confessions… I made a new French Christmas Pinterest board! For you Christmas lovers like myself out there, start planning ahead with my Christmas Pinterest boards.

Ok, I am done with my confessions.  Let’s have a look at some Halloween Chocolate, from the local chocolate shop in St. Helena in the Napa Valley (which I don’t know if it even still exists or if it was burned to the ground in the horrible fires!)

Are any of you thinking about Christmas?

Cute and Not-So-Scary Halloween House Tour

We use affiliate links in our posts and our site. This means if you make a purchase using these links, we may earn a small commission. You don’t pay a cent more than you would otherwise! Our full disclosure is available under About.

In this post- Cute Halloween Decor Ideas that are not-so-scary or creepy!

This post may contain affiliate links

Halloween decor does not have to give you the creeps!  You can have cute Halloween decor too!

This year I’ve created a Halloween tree.

Now, if you know me, you know that I *love* Christmas and I *love* Christmas trees so any excuse to put up a tree is a perfect excuse for me!

I found this tinsel tree in the Christmas decor section and knew I would take it home with me and put it up promptly!

The Steiff Halloween scared black cats are the ornaments in the tree. As well as a few other creepy items – some potion book ornaments found for a bargain at Tuesday Morning as well a sa pumpkin gourd from a local Fall festival.

A raven also perched itself into the tree.  The ribbon is Mackenzie Child’s courtly check ribbon I’ve had for years.

A vintage clapsaddle candy box sits at the bottom as well as my Hedwig the Owl (from Harry Potter, if you are a fan!)

The Halloweentown village sits in the center of the island.  There is a haunted barn, mansion, carriage house and train.

It is particularly fun at night – the lights flash and make eerie sounds.  The sounds can be turned on and off.

A look at my elegantly haunted table… inspired by the phantom of the opera!

I wrote a whole post about this table earlier this week – check it out here.

Mr. Swan is joining the masquerade party held at the opera!

He is carrying dead roses this time.

Potion bottles add an extra Halloween flair.

My little phantom of the opera nutcracker is haunting the party as well on the left.

The Halloween mantle is extra spooky with the black and white courtly check!

I am not generally into new figurines, preferring antique ones instead, but I do like these little Halloween characters from Lori Mitchell.

The little girl witch riding her broomstick is new this year!

The center pumpkins say BEWARE!  I love their miniature size.

A last look at this year’s Halloween house tour!

Elegant Halloween Decorating Ideas – Friday Favorites

I’ve been thinking about Halloween decor since it is October already (where did the time go??)…

…and I’ve been thinking about how to decorate your Halloween house in an elegant way.

So I started searching for inspiration.

You see, I am not so much into the creepy skeleton/zombies/bloody/insects.

There are other ways to decorate for Halloween other than, well IMO, the gross things that give me the creepy crawlies.

Let’s start with below, see, elegant candles, dark moody lighting, interesting florals…  You’ll notice a lot of the different pictures have similar themes.

This staircase below – elegant, but creepy but then kind of cute at the same time.  You don’t have to use the creepy noise-making zombies/ghosts/witches sold at the store to have a house decorated for Halloween.

Unless, of course, that’s your thing.  But it’s not my thing.  These decorating ideas could also work for younger children since they are not quite so scary (although stay around them if you light candles!)

Looking for some ideas for a Fall menu?

I’ve got you covered here today with 5 Fall recipes covering breakfast, lunch and dinner and dessert!

Try this delicious pumpkin scone – a copycat of the Starbucks version but personally I think it is better and there are definitely less calories involved!

With your pumpkin scone, you can enjoy a homemade pumpkin spice latte as well.

Now for lunch, you could eat my Fall harvest salad.  It is so tasty with the apples, cranberries and pecans!  Or you can serve a smaller version with your dinner.

I love eating soups in the Fall and one of my favorites is this pumpkin soup recipe.  It is a copycat version of one I had in Germany and I prefer it to the American versions.

And last but not least, y’all need to try this apple pie recipe. It is the best.

Oktoberfest

Tomorrow I’m hosting an Oktoberfest party with my family. I’m so excited!

I have posted lots of content about Oktoberfest on the blog, so be sure to check it out here.

Halloween

Can I just say that every year I find myself liking Pottery Barn’s Halloween porch?

Also spotted these at pottery barn: buffalo check mug set

Lit Pumpkin Wreath

Outlander

Do you watch the Outlander TV series on Starz?  I do!!! I’m so excited about season 3.  It is based on the third book, Voyager.  That book was my second favorite book. My favorite book of the series was the first one.

Cute Antique Mall Booth

I thought this booth in a local antique mall was pretty cute.

Christmas

Oh, and also… Christmas!! Yes!  Spotted these at a store too, aren’t they cute???

I know it is a bit early but I’ve been thinking about Christmas already.  Mainly because I am *hopefully* going to be moving into my new house which has in the living room 14′ ceilings which means I have to get a new Christmas tree (because obviously) so I’m been keeping my eye out on flocked Christmas trees to go on sale… anyway…

Almost bought this snowman for my porch, but I have no where to store it right now, so I have to wait… grrrr. it’s okay, it is a little early any way!!
